Track Model

Well this was a short tutorial. I took about 15 minutes or less to finish this one. It was really easy because whatever was taught here, we’ve done it before. Outlining the image on a plane. And then this time we had to extrude it instead of using the revolve tool. After that the track was pretty much done. All that was left was to create a flap for attaching it to other tracks. This was done simply by extruding the front two faces on the bottom of the track and then selecting the face that was created and extruding it forward. Apply a bevel to create the half honeycomb shaped flap and its done!

The next part of the tutorial was also very interesting. First I started by duplicating the previous track, and then apply a deformer, this time its a bend instead of a wave. This tool is very powerful and useful because by simply adding the deformer, I could easily manipulate the object making bend and curve in any direction that I want.

Based on my current understanding of Maya, I think this tool can be used to create roads or 3D type faces. I would like to explore more in depth for this tool. Maybe I’ll create a race track and model a car. Hahaha!

These are the track that I’ve created.
